A comprehensive transformation — full kitchen renovation, primary suite addition, expanded living areas, and an updated exterior that gave this Bocage home a completely new character inside and out.
This Bocage renovation is the kind of project that requires equal parts construction expertise and design vision. The owners had a home with solid bones in one of Baton Rouge's most desirable neighborhoods, but the layout, finishes, and exterior no longer fit how they lived. Nelson Custom Builders delivered a transformation that respects the existing structure while fundamentally reimagining the experience of the home.
The kitchen was gutted and rebuilt from the studs out — new layout, custom cabinetry, a large quartz-topped island with seating, professional appliances, and a built-in breakfast nook that replaced dead corner space. The adjacent living and dining areas were opened and reconfigured, with new built-ins, updated flooring, and a refreshed fireplace surround tying the spaces together.
The primary suite addition is the project's signature piece — a new wing added to the rear of the home that delivers a true owner's retreat: a vaulted bedroom, a spa-style bath with a freestanding tub and large-format tile shower, and a walk-in closet with custom organization built for two. The existing guest suite was also refreshed with updated tile, vanity, and fixtures.
Exterior improvements — new siding profiles, updated windows, a repainted palette, and refreshed landscaping — completed the transformation, giving the home a presence that reads as new construction from the street. David Nelson oversaw every phase from permitting through final punch list.

From targeted kitchen renovations to full additions and whole-house transformations, Nelson Custom Builders delivers renovation work built to the same standard as new construction.
